For Immediate Release
Over 200 Union Learning Reps (ULRs) from all over Scotland will attend the 1st Annual Scottish Union Learning Conference tomorrow (13 November 2008) in the Stirling Management Centre. Delegates from as far as Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Arran, representing 17 trade unions from all sectors, will be attending. It is by far the most delegates who have ever registered to attend a union learning conference of this kind in Scotland. The delegates provide learning support in their workplaces to many of the 644,000 trade unionists in Scotland who are affiliated to the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC).
The ULRs will join Scottish Union Learning Fund (SULF) Project Workers, STUC General Council members, Scottish Union Learning Board members, trade union members and officials, and partners in lifelong learning for the one-day Conference.
The theme of the 2008 Scottish Union Learning Conference is “Learning & Organising“. The Conference will provide participants with practical information and skills through workshops and presentations and will also allow ULRs from across the country to come together and discuss how we shape union learning throughout Scotland, both nationally and regionally. The Conference is sponsored by ILA Scotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
