For Immediate Release
As Co-Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Skills in the Scottish Parliament, John Park MSP addressed the Scottish Union Learning Conference in the Apex City Hotel in Dundee today (19 November).
John Park MSP said:
“Trade union learning has been contributing to Scotland's economic performance for a number of years and I know it will continue to contribute to Scotland's economic future. In this current economic climate, we must focus on how to ensure trade union-led learning is continued and supported by the Scottish Government.
“Now, more than ever, it is vital that trade union learning continues to be supported and we need to encourage employers to engage in workforce development to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce for the future. Constructive trade union and employer relationships are good for the economy and a great way of achieving this is through trade union learning.
“Scottish Union Learning has a crucial role in supporting trade unions to deliver opportunities to their members through Union Learning Representatives.”
