STUC. Scottish Union Learning. The learning force behind Scotland's workers.

ILA Scotland

ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme that helps you pay for learning that you can do at a time, place, pace and in a way to suit you. It’s for anyone who has an income of £18,000 a year or less, or who is on benefits.

If you are over 16 and living in Scotland, you could get up to £500 towards the cost of learning with a learner account from ILA Scotland.

There are 2 types of account available:
£200 accounts are available for people who are interested in learning something new. There are a wide range of courses available and you can study with any ILA Scotland approved learning provider, including colleges, universities, learning centres and private training companies.
£500 accounts are available if you are studying a part-time higher education course such as an Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Degree course at any ILA Scotland approved colleges or universities. You must be studying for at 50% or more of the time needed to complete a full-time course.

Working in Partnership

ILA Scotland has been working in partnership with Scottish trade unions and the STUC to promote learning in the workplace.

Over the past year ILA Scotland partnership development officers, Claire Elliott and Colin Reed, have travelled all over the country to meet ULRs. Their aim is to encourage trade union members to use their ILA Scotland funds.

There are lots of ways in which we can work with trade unions and ULRs, below are just some examples:

• We can supply ILA Scotland marketing materials free of charge.

• We can supply information for you to include in your website or newsletter.

• You can request an ILA Scotland adviser to attend your learning events.

If you would like to keep in touch with ILA Scotland you can submit your details to our e-mail list you will be kept updated with any breaking news and receive future copies of ILA Scotland News.
