STUC. Scottish Union Learning. The learning force behind Scotland's workers.

Learning Agreements

When unions are directly involved in training policy decision at company level, firms are more likely to adopt practices which contribute to high-trust, high-performance workplaces, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s 2001 Training and Development Survey. Learning Agreements can help facilitate the level of union involvement in training policy with a company. Some of the problems that ULRs experience in the workplace can also be overcome by a learning agreement. A formal agreement between a union and an employer on time off can avoid misunderstanding and ensure fair and reasonable treatment.
