The aim of the Scottish Union Learning Fund (SULF) is to encourage workplace learning. The Evaluation Of The Scottish Union Learning Fund (SULF) (2000-2005) was commissioned by ASD/ETLLD to assess the difference made by SULF to trade unions' capacity to enhance this learning.
The evaluation, published in May 2006, can be accesssed on the Scottish Government Social Research Website.
According to this research, over 1800 learneing awareness events were held; almost 10,000 individual learning needs assessments were undertaken; over 24,000 people were given advice on learning; 13,000 people undertook accredited and non-accredited learning; a further 2,000 undertook other ICT training; and 6 new learning centres were opened. The amount of learning outcomes delivered would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Union Learning Representatives in the workplace.
A publication entitled "Scottish Union Learning: A Profile of Trade Union Learning in Scotland" is available to download online. This publication gives an overview of the union projects undertaken in SULF 6.
