Everyday Skills: Building Effective Pathways to Learning
Scottish trade unions gathered at the Scottish Youth Theatre in Glasgow on Thursday, 27 February for the 12th Annual Scottish Union Learning Everyday Skills Event. Around ninety delegates from trade unions and workplaces across Scotland came together to explore the theme: ‘Everyday Skills: Building Effective Pathways to Learning’. The Event was addressed by Duncan Cumming, Chief Executive, Dyslexia Scotwest and Frances Bradley Learning Services Co-ordinator, Glasgow Life.
The Everyday Skills Event enabled discussions around adult learning and how to provide support for workers with specific learning difficulties. Through interactive sessions, there were opportunities to tackle the challenges faced by workers with dyslexia, demonstrate the benefits of reading and links to good mental health, and learn innovative methods to teach basic maths skills.
