Leadership Training (National Union of Journalists)

November 27, 2024, 09.30 – 16.30

Face-to-face, Glasgow

NUJ funded Leadership training

*Limited Places Available*

The NUJ Leadership training programme designed for mid-career journalists, both staff and freelances, seeks to develop leadership attributes to equip individuals with management and strategic planning skills.  Although the course was developed with media workers in mind, it is a useful session for learners from other industries where these skills may be required.

A lack of meaningful progression in workplaces is something that many members have raised as barriers in their career, and something the NUJ is committed to help tackle.

The programme consists of a one-day in-person session and topics covered include:

  • The ‘Wheels’ of Collaborative Leadership
  • Peer mentoring (active listening/support skills)
  • The Inner Landscape (or Iceberg) Model (exploring reactivity vs. responsiveness in working relationships, taking into account feelings, needs & values).

NUJ are delighted to be able to offer this training for free to members and affiliates in Edinburgh on 21 November and in Glasgow on 27 November.

This course was developed with support from the Google News Initiative and there are limited places available in both locations.

Anyone wishing to book can do so by contacting joanm@nuj.org.uk.
