United Workplaces: Uniting workplaces through learning

Scottish Union Learning have developed a programme of training for Union Learning Organisers/Project Workers and Trades Council delegates, as part of the STUC’s United Workplaces project.

Upcoming training days will be held on 15 January, 30 January and 18 March. Each training day will have a different theme and will be delivered by a different training provider.

The United Workplaces Fund has been established by the STUC with funding support from the Scottish Government, to enable trade unions to pilot and develop new activities tackling the rising threat of prejudice, hate, discrimination, and polarisation in workplaces.

Thursday, 15 January 2026 (10:00am - 3.35pm)

Topic: Strategic Dialogue: Understanding and Countering Online Hate and Disinformation

Facilitator: Time for Inclusive Education

Time for Inclusive Education will deliver developmental training examining the nature of disinformation, prejudice, and far-right extremist narratives circulating across online platforms, and the impact these have on different communities. Through interactive activities, participants will strengthen their core knowledge of the nature of online hate and explore practical dialogue tools from the Digital Discourse Initiative project, which aim to build insight and strengthen abilities to counter harmful narratives and facilitate effective conversations within a union-led context.
