North West Resource Centre, Dumfries

Starting at 10:30am, the Dumfries ULR Development Day will include two Digital Unions workshops.

Workshop info:

Personal Cyber Security

Nowadays our computers, phones, and tablets are filled with personal information, but how can we keep that sensitive information out of the wrong hands? In this 90-minute workshop you will learn about the most common cyber security attacks, but more importantly how to take steps to protect yourself. You will see live demonstrations of attacks and learn how to spot them. These tips will help you feel more confident about using a computer safely. No technical knowledge is required.

Introduction to Creating Content for the Web

Scotland aspires to be a high-performing digital economy, and developing rather than just using content has become a valuable digital skill. This 90 minute interactive workshop will introduce you to coding and creating content for the web, using the latest technologies. You will build your own digital postcard and be able to share your work online for friends and family to see, and take home your digital creation to carry on learning at home.

This is a taster session, no previous content creation, coding experience, or knowledge of maths is required and all equipment will be provided. However, a reasonable level of digital skills is required, for example how to use internet browsers, how to cut and paste and how to use a keyboard. This is a great way to learn digital skills in a fun and social environment.
