Following feedback from unions, Scottish Union Learning has re-developed our ULR Development Days/Local Learning Forums and re-launched these as Union Learning Development Days. Taking place biannually, the Union Learning Development Days will have focussed workshops, and will look at how to support and develop local union-led learning activity. The local Trades Union Councils will contribute to the discussions on the need for local networks of trade union reps and activists.

Workshop info:

Scottish Union Learning will Chair the Union Learning Development Day to ensure contextualisation with the role of the ULR.

The workshops have been developed in response to previous iterations of Union Learning Development Days. Glasgow Trades Council will present on local union-led activities and how ULRs can get involved.

Dyslexia Scotland will deliver a workshop on Neurodiversity Awareness for ULRs. The workshop will focus on Dyslexia Awareness in the workplace but will touch on other co-occurring challenges. 

STUC Trade Unions in the Community will deliver a workshop on ‘Our Rights in Action’, a project which aims to build and strengthen workers’ collective power by:

  • Working closely with local Trades Councils, Unions, Workers and Community Members/Organisations
  • Delivering tailored employment rights training
  • Shifting harmful narratives to create positive, inclusive outcomes for all
  • Influencing the institutions that determine working conditions
  • Ensuring workers have the resources, confidence and collective strength to secure fair work and achieve sustainable change.

Lunch and refreshments will be available.
