Dementia Friends with Alzheimer Scotland - Highlands and Islands Learning Week 2024

Dementia Friends with Alzheimer Scotland - Highlands and Islands Learning Week 2024

June 5, 2024, 13.00 – 14.00

Online, via Zoom

Join us for this informal and participatory session which considers 5 key messages about dementia.

  • Dementia is not a natural part of ageing.
  • Dementia is caused by brain diseases.
  • Dementia is not just about losing your memory.
  • It is possible to live well with dementia.
  • There is more to the person than the dementia.

Focussing on increasing knowledge and reducing stigma, there will also time for discussion and to explore training support in your local area. The session is delivered by Julie Ferguson who works for Alzheimer’s Scotland in Inverness.

This year, our Highlands and Islands learning conference will be a series of webinars delivered over the week beginning 3rd-7th June. We are delighted to have Alzheimer Scotland Inverness, Digital Skills Education and Samaritans Scotland West Highlands and Skye Project on board to deliver a varied programme of sessions which reflect important issues which are relevant to us all.

As ever, the focus of the programme is skills and development and each of the three sessions offers information on resources for future learning as well as encouraging ideas for progression and growth at work and beyond.

All sessions can be booked by clicking ‘Book your place’ now button below. You can also download and share the flyer with  clickable link here.
