GamCare Information Session

On Thursday 25^th May, Scottish Union Learning held a joint educational/ information session webinar with GamCare, a charity which aims to provide information and resources on harmful gambling, as well as offer support to those affected by problem gambling, whether as the individual themselves or an affected other.

Demand for this information session came directly from union members who raised concerns regarding problem gambling, or had direct experience of being impacted by problem gambling.

Participants learned about the psychology and neuroscience of gambling, the ways in which gambling presents itself differently across different demographics, the resources and spaces which are available to support those affected by problem gambling, and also self-help tools that gamblers themselves can use to reduce their problem gambling.

This was the first session Scottish Union Learning organised with GamCare, and SUL and GamCare will endeavour to work together to explore how union reps can use their specific skills to support members through these issues.
