Nominations now open for the 2024 STUC Union Rep Awards

The nomination process for the 2024 STUC Union Rep Awards and SUL Learner of the Year Award is now open. Scottish Union Learning manages the delivery of three of these awards: the Scottish Union Learning Learner of the Year Award, the STUC Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning, and the STUC Equality Award.
Unions are invited to submit nominations before the deadline of Friday, 02 February 2024.
The awards will be presented at STUC Congress, between 15-17 April 2024, in Dundee.
Scottish Union Learning Conference 2023
The 2023 Scottish Union Learning Conference was held online on Thursday, 16 November. The theme of the Conference was ‘Learning, Organising, Responding: making work fair‘, with a focus on skills development through developing the skills of union members, meeting the needs of a modern workforce, and supporting high quality jobs to boost social justice, productivity and Scotland’s skills base.
The Conference was addressed by Roz Foyer, STUC General Secretary, and chaired by Susan Quinn, Chair of the SUL Board. Keynote speakers were Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy and Raza Sadiq, UNISON rep.

Scottish Book Trust Book Week Scotland - 13 to 19 November 2023
Book Week Scotland – now in its twelfth year – is an annual celebration of books and reading that takes place across the country in November.
During Book Week, people of all ages and walks of life come together to share the joy of reading. The theme this year is ‘Adventure’ and together with Scottish Book Trust's curated programme, external partners including unions deliver hundreds of unique, exciting events and activities that celebrate the transformative power of reading. They are joined in this celebration by Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers, and illustrators to bring a packed programme of events and projects to life.
