Register for February 2023 courses by Thursday, 12 January 2023. You may qualify for the 10% trade union member discount if your personal income is more than £25K for your first module at level 1 (please state on the registration form that you would like to claim the union discount and provide a copy of your union ID card).

A year on from COP 26 in Glasgow and a month after COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Scottish Union Learning and The Open University in Scotland organised a webinar on the topic of Green Skills and Just Transition, 'Green spaces for climate-resilient neighbourhoods: what does Scotland need for fair and equitable resilience?', led by Dr Leslie Mabon, from The OU.

The nomination process for the Scottish Union Learning Learner of the Year 2023 is now open.

Unions are invited to submit STUC Union Rep Awards 2023 nominations before the deadline of Friday, 24th February 2023.

Delegates enjoying 2022 SUL Conference

The 2022 Scottish Union Learning Conference was held on Thursday, 10th November in the Scottish Youth Theatre, Glasgow. The theme of the Conference was ‘Resilience and Recovery: the role of union learning', and delegates had opportunities to explore the ways in which union learning can aid Scotland’s social, economic, and political recovery.

OU case study: Joe Shaughnessy, Scottish Premiership club captain

With the support of PFAS, Scottish Premiership football club captain Joe Shaughnessy successfully netted a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Mathematics degree – combining his sporting career with flexible Open University studies.

The St Mirren defender swapped a football pitch for a stage when he collected his degree at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and said: “I'm really pleased to have completed my degree and looking forward to celebrating with all my fellow graduates at the graduation ceremony in Glasgow.”
