Registration now open for Scottish Union Learning Annual Conference 2023 - 16th November

Scottish Union Learning are inviting Union Learning Reps, Union Learning Organisers and other union reps and officers to attend our 15th Annual Conference on Thursday, 16th November 2023.

The event will be held online and the theme will be "Learning, Organising, Responding: making work fair”. With a broad yet focussed agenda, the conference will centre on skills development through developing the skills of union members, meeting the needs of a modern workforce, and supporting high quality jobs to boost social justice, productivity and Scotland’s skills base. 

OU news - inclusion champion Raza Sadiq receives honorary degree

This is the latest of many recognitions given to Raza for his notable contributions to the community and promotion of inclusion.

Every Worker, Every Workplace, Inverness, 27th Sept, 2023

Scottish Union Learning and the STUC organised a workshop, Every Workplace, Every Worker, as part of the Highlands and Islands Climate Festival which ran throughout September. This workshop enabled people to recognise the important contribution learning has already made to workers in Highlands and Islands, while looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

University of Strathclyde - fully funded employability courses starting October

The Centre for Lifelong Learning at Strathclyde has developed four transferable skills for work modules which are fully funded by the Scottish Funding Council.

Classes are either delivered on campus or taught live and online via Zoom at designated times:

  • Effective Listening Skills (online via Zoom, starts 10 October)
  • Identifying and Adapting Your Skills in mid/late career (face-to-face, starts 20 October)
  • Confidence Building and Re-Building for job change in mid/late career (face-to-face, starts 23 October)
  • Presentation Skills for Work (face-to-face, starts 25 October)
